Wool Picker - Mini Collapsible Swing Picker

  • $ 59900

Well-designed picking pattern makes it an excellent option for all types of fiber. Effortlessly adjusts to your preferred aggressiveness in seconds. Picking wool is easy as the rocker swings on sealed ball bearings.  A few advantages of the Fainting Maid vs. other pickers is it’s considerably faster and less strenuous to use compared to miniature bench pickers, and yet it’s not nearly as large and hard to move and store as a full-sized swing picker. It's collapsible! The “Fainting Maid” folds down making it easy to transport, or you can store it by putting it up on a shelf or sliding it under your bed.

How does the Fainting Maid out-perform other pickers?

  • Easily adjusts to your own specifications! Simply loosen the two wing nuts on each side of the picker and rotate the two knobs on top. No tools required.
  • Excellent option for all fiber types, from fine to coarse and everywhere in-between due to its hassle-free adjustable design.
  • Made from cherry wood and finished with hand rubbed Danish Oil finish.
  • Easy to store. Collapses in seconds, making easy to store and transport. Slide it under the bed, or put it up on a shelf.
  • Quality rubber feet keep it from moving around during use.

Fabulous Fainting Maid Picker

To test the picker, I chose a very fine, fragile, scoured Cormo fleece and used the areas that were full of vegetable matter on purpose to see if any parts could be salvaged and how the picker would handle this mess of wool. I found that by using very short, slow, and gentle swings to tease open the locks, the wool stayed in the middle until it was picked fully open and then went out the back - perfect for woolen spinning. No part of that tender, dirty fleece was damaged and looked so much better once it fluffed up.

I was stunned by the amount of VM, dirt, and chaff was left behind by the picker! Out came usable wool that carded up beautifully and is ready for the dye pot. Best of all is the picker's high quality workmanship, collapsing to fit into a small storage space, and very easy to clean out with soft brushes on the teeth. Next time, I will put a catcher-paper under the picker's drop slot to catch the piles of debris that the picker removed...no longer in the dirty fleece. Love this little picker!

Awesome product even more amazing customer service!

I bought a product from them paid for over night shipping. After reading about the fire and delays, I sent them an email apologizing and they took care of it. I will always come back here for my fiber needs!

Really well made products

I was nervous about using this product as it seemed very scary. The handbook was well written and I followed the instructions step by step to get the Fainting Maid set up and was processing the fleece very quickly. Such a well made product with a thoughtful design. Don't think I would have enjoyed the process as much without this wool picker. Love it! Really like that it folds away, that is an added bonus.
