I developed this carder with several requirements in mind.

The carder needed to be easy to clean. (This includes our original swift cleaner so the swift can be cleaned in 5 seconds.) Magnetic pulleys on the swift and licker in, and magnetic belt cover clip off. You can access the base of the shafts on both the swift and licker in for cleaning in less than 30 seconds for easy cleaning
I wanted independent motor drives for a wider ratio to achieve ultra blending capabilities. This one has a 5:1 all the way to an impressive 17:1 ratio that I absolutely love. 17:1 ratio means the swift turns 17 times for every one rotation of the licker in. This means it is carding through less fiber at a time and more evenly distributes the fiber around the drum.
I wanted repeatable speed and ratio settings so you were not trying to estimate an approximate setting you found and liked. (This carder locks into absolute ratios and speeds so you can easily experiment and change it back to exactly where you had it before in a couple seconds)
I wanted to be able to remove the batt without putting the carder in reverse so it could be easily pulled off at my own pace. I made the swift spin freely so the batt can be removed without power applied.
Everything needed to be intuitive to use. Every knob and switch placement, colors, labels and behavior was designed and placed with thought behind each one. The tools needed to fit inside the carder in easy reach so you don't lose them in the middle of a batt.

This is not nearly all I packed into the carder. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I did designing this.

What makes this carder special?

Auto Swift Cleaner. Clean your swift in 5 seconds! Just swing the cleaning drum on top and hold the clean button - it's like magic!
Ultra blend setting with an impressive 17:1 ratio. (I love how this setting blends) Or choose faster ratios from 5:1 through 17:1 in increments of two.

Thoughtfully designed and well build drum carder

This was one of the very best fiber, purchases I have ever made! All of the features described in the product description are accurate and extremely functional. One thing, though that was not included in the description, but really elevates the function of thus drum carder is how the lickerin actually separates out neps from the fiber you feed in. I have no idea what Baruch did to turn the lickerin from the traditional drum, that just feed fiber into the main drum and collects way too much good fiber to something that, as described, does not collect nearly as much good fiber, as with other drum carders, but also actually catches quite a bit of neps. I get this out on the very first batt I made, in which I was reusing a previously drum carded batt, along with other fibers. And imagine my surprise when I saw all of these naps caught in the lickerin.

I consider this drum carder an outstanding value for the price. If you are on the fence at all, in terms of buying it, I strongly encourage you to do so!

AMAZING carder!

Although I have been very happy with the non-electric Bam drum carder I bought less than a year ago, I knew that I just had to have this electric model as soon as Baruch announced its release. Now that I have received and used my new carder, I could not be more thrilled with my purchase! This electric model includes everything I love about the non-electric carder, but creates even more beautiful batts (I didn't even think that was possible!) more easily and quickly than ever. Being able to use both of my hands allows me to prepare my fiber as the drum carder does its job, creating a smoother, easier work flow. I love how many settings and speeds this carder offers, so I have no doubt this carder will be able to handle everything I need from it. For the price, this carder is an incredible deal. I could not recommend this carder more. I am so happy!!

I love this electric carder. It has all the features I was looking for and more! The auto cleaning function is great! I started using it right out of the box and love the batts I’ve made.
